- In 2003, Xerox joined the U.S. EPA Climate Leaders program and launched "Xerox Energy Challenge 2012" with a goal to educe energy and GHGs across all corporate operations 10% by 2012. The company met this target 6 years early and set a new target of 25% reduction by 2012 (2002 baseline).
- By 2012, Xerox met the 25% reduction target. Emissions dropped 42% and energy 31%. The company achieved the reduction through various means including consolidations, more efficient lighting systems, as well as engineering changes for energy intensive processes.
