PORTFOLIO ENERGY PERFORMANCE

Better Buildings Challenge Partners strive to decrease portfolio-wide source energy use intensity (EUI) and to increase the percent improvement compared to a set baseline. Suncoast's portfolio consists of more than 60 buildings and 433,000 square feet. Partner has improved energy performance by 8% from a 2014 baseline, making progress towards a goal of 20% by 2025. Suncoast has made a commitment to develop environmentally friendly branches featuring LED lighting throughout the building, high-efficiency windows and insulation, geothermal air conditioning and heating and 40-kilowatt photovoltaic arrays to offset electricity.

ENERGY PERFORMANCE BY PROPERTY

Looking at the percent improvement in energy performance across all facilities can provide insight into how an organization is saving energy. Suncoast has achieved energy performance improvements of greater than 10% at more than 17 of its properties. There are 19 properties that have experienced an increase in Source EUI.  These properties have been targeted for future energy efficiency improvements including the budgeting of higher SEER air conditioning units, interior LED retrofits, and improved solar shading.

IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT

Property-level energy performance metrics, including EUI and percent improvement to date, are critical to track progress over time and identify opportunities for additional energy savings. Suncoast Credit Union is the largest credit union in Florida and includes a portfolio of branches and administration buildings built in the 1980’s with EUI’s exceeding 500 kBTU/sqft to recently completed sites that are Net Zero with EUI’s of 42 kBTU/sqft.  It is our goal to continue to make decisions that benefit our members and communities and invest in initiatives that fit our mission and improve the environment.
