PORTFOLIO ENERGY PERFORMANCE

Better Buildings Challenge Partners strive to decrease portfolio-wide source energy use intensity (EUI) and to increase the percent improvement compared to a set baseline. Margate's portfolio consists of 14 buildings and 120 thousand square feet. Since 2011, Margate has improved energy performance by 17%. Energy savings have been achieved by implementing lighting retrofits and HVAC upgrades at the properties with the most need, while also promoting energy awareness to staff.

ENERGY PERFORMANCE BY FACILITY

Looking at the percent improvement in energy performance across all properties can provide insight into how an organization is saving energy. Margate has achieved energy performance improvement of greater than 6% at seven of its properties. There are two properties that have experienced an increase in Source EUI. These properties will be targeted for future energy efficiency improvements.

IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT

Property-level energy performance metrics, including EUI and percent improvement to date, are critical to track progress over time and identify opportunities for additional energy savings. Margate's portfolio consists of properties with a wide range of baseline EUI values, which are mostly in the 100 to 400 kBtu/sq. ft. range. Over half of the City's properties have shown energy improvement since 2011. The properties located near or below the 0% axis present good opportunities for further savings.
