PORTFOLIO ENERGY PERFORMANCE

Better Buildings Challenge Partners strive to decrease portfolio-wide source energy use intensity (EUI) and to increase the percent improvement compared to a set baseline. LAUSD's portfolio consists of more than 647 school sites and 70 million square feet. Partner has improved energy performance by 5% from a 2014 baseline, making progress towards a goal of 20% by 2024.

ENERGY PERFORMANCE BY PROPERTY

Looking at the percent improvement in energy performance across all facilities can provide insight into how an organization is saving energy. LAUSD has achieved energy performance improvement of greater than 6% at more than 300 of its properties. There are 151 properties that have experienced an increase in Source EUI. These properties will be analyzed for consideration for future energy efficiency measures.

IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT

Property-level energy performance metrics, including EUI and percent improvement to date, are critical to track progress over time and identify opportunities for additional energy savings. LAUSD's portfolio consists of properties with a wide range of baseline EUI values, most of which are from 50 to 150 kBtu/sq. ft. The majority of properties have shown energy improvement since 2014. The properties located near or below the 0% axis may present good opportunities for further savings.

PORTFOLIO WATER PERFORMANCE

LAUSD has improved water performance by 10% from a 2014 baseline, making progress towards a goal of 20% by 2024. LAUSD continues to implement various water saving measures to reach its conservation goals, including plumbing retrofits, re/retro commissioning, comprehensive modernization, and the use of recycled water.
