Often, Multifamily partners face the added challenge of collecting data from tenant-paid utility accounts. The Better Buildings Challenge is working with Multifamily partners and utility companies to improve the data collection and reporting process. While this important work continues, Multifamily partners are being recognized for their successes within those properties that are reporting whole-building data. The Gary Housing Authority Multifamily portfolio consists of 11 properties, 1,547 apartment units, and 1.3 million square feet. For the 2018 reporting period, Gary Housing Authority reported whole-building data for 75% of its portfolio.

The Gary Housing Authority portfolio consists of 11 properties and 1.3 million square feet. Gary Housing Authority has improved energy performance for those six properties reporting whole-building data by 26% from a 2013 baseline, making progress towards a portfolio-wide goal of 20% by 2026.
