PORTFOLIO ENERGY PERFORMANCE

Better Buildings Challenge Partners strive to decrease portfolio-wide source energy use intensity (EUI) and to increase the percent improvement compared to a set baseline. Village of Hempstead's portfolio consists of four buildings and 235,000 square feet. Partner has improved energy performance by 4% from a 2013 baseline, making progress towards a goal of 20% by 2023.  Energy savings have been achieved primarily in Gladys Gardens Apartments, where a comprehensive retrofit included installation of new condensing boilers, piping, and boiler venting equipment, new high efficiency windows, attic insulation and full LED lighting upgrades.

Looking at the percent improvement in energy performance across all facilities can provide insight into how an organization is saving energy. Village of Hempstead has achieved energy performance improvement of greater than 15% at one of its properties. There are two properties that have experienced an increase in Source EUI.  These properties have been targeted for future energy efficiency improvements.
