J.R. Simplot’s showcase project is a new, 420,000 square foot, state-of-the-art potato processing plant that will integrate innovative energy-efficient technologies to achieve dramatic energy efficiency improvements of up to 25% while producing hundreds of millions of pounds of frozen potato products per year. The new plant includes solar powered LED exterior lighting.
Legrand showcased its commitment to energy efficiency by achieving a 11% energy intensity reduction in three years at its 100-year old West Hartford, Connecticut, headquarters facility through improvements such as installing inductive lighting and replacing existing 32 watt bulbs with high efficiency 25 watt bulbs in its office areas.

Tim Kolp has over 25 years in the manufacturing sector and has owned his own businesses for the past 12 years. His background includes: maintenance engineering, process engineering, project management, quality engineering, business unit management, plant management, industrial sales, and VP of Technology. He brings a diverse background in both traditional large corporations, high tech industries, as well as, start-up companies. Mr. Kolp works as a Better Plants Technical Account Manager under a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) contract and runs an awning company. He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and an MBA. Mr. Kolp is also an adjunct professor at Union University teaching measurement methods for manufacturing and is the author of "A+ Secrets to a Smarter You."
