Integrated Lighting Campaign

The Integrated Lighting Campaign (ILC) is a recognition and guidance program designed to help facility owners and managers take advantage of savings opportunities from high efficiency interior lighting solutions. The Campaign focus is on troffer, high-bay, low-bay, and suspended linear lighting systems and controls. To date, the Integrated Lighting Campaign's recognized partners have newly installed or upgraded more than 2.8 million lighting fixtures and control systems -- reducing annual energy use by nearly 641 million kWh, or $68 million in annual energy savings.

Campaign organizers Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and the U.S. Department of Energy serve on the ILC Organizing Committee.

Lighting accounts for roughly 15-20% of the electricity use in a typical commercial building, and the most commonly used light source in these indoor applications is the linear fluorescent lamp. Troffers operate for more than 10 hours a day and collectively consume over 96.7 TWh of electricity annually, as much energy as 8.9 million homes would consume in a year. By adopting the Better Buildings Alliance specification for troffers, building owners can save more than 50% on a one-for-one basis, and up to 80% with the use of controls. The specification encourages greater reduction in connected power through the use of efficient LED sources and lighting controls.

Benefits of Joining:

  • Access to resources including specifications, case studies, utility incentive lists, and educational webinars to help facility owners and managers make sound lighting decisions.
  • Technical assistance
  • Listing on the ILC web site. Those that show exemplary performance will be eligible for recognition.
  • Organizations that don't directly own or operate facilities but that support the goals of the ILC can join as Supporters, and receive recognition for their involvement.

Join the ILC as either a Participant (e.g., site owner, manager, or operator) or a Supporter (utility, energy efficiency organization, ESCO, lighting designer/engineer, lighting manufacturer).
